As Canadians, we pride ourselves on having the kindest hearts, the sweetest syrup and the absolute best hangover cure: the Caesar.

Upon hearing Clamato juice is the base ingredient (to clarify, that’s tomato juice and clam broth), many people are scared off. But true Canadians know that this savoury, spicy and salty drink is an absolute crucial addition to any weekend brunch—and not to mention a miracle worker on hangovers.

Here are the top Caesars across Canada. Are you lucky enough to live close to any?

Durty Nelly’s

Halifax, Nova Scotia

An ‘Authentic Irish Pub’ in the heart of downtown Halifax, Durty Nelly’s is a popular spot where locals like to come and enjoy live music and a pint (or three) with friends. They offer a wide variety of Caesars—we suggest trying their rye, maple and bacon variation!

The Merchant Tavern

St.John’s, Newfoundland

If you’re looking for the freshest maritime flavours—look no further than The Merchant tavern. Their Caesars are made with house made hot sauce, freshly shaved horseradish and are topped with an Eel Lake oyster and prosciutto. Forget kissing the cod, we wanna kiss this drink!

Happy National Caesar Day! Come down to The Merchant Tavern to celebrate with our Merchant Caesar!

Terre Rouge Craft Kitchen

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Why has no one ever thought to add beets to a Caesar? BEETS us. Terre Rouge’s Caesar is mixed with dill pickle and pickled beet juice (and garnished with a pickled beet wedge, obviously). Do your body and YOURSELF a favour and drink up.

Vault 29

Fredericton, New Brunswick

The East Coast sure knows how to make a mean Caesar. Rounding off our maritime portion is Vault 29, a Fredericton bar and grill that serves their Caesars with an East Coast twist. Made with a secret brine recipe and garnished with a shrimp and scallop skewer, you’ll be doing a jig after one of these.

The Chase Fish & Oyster

Toronto, Onario

This classy Toronto seafood restaurant is the closest you’ll get to enjoying east coast seafood without actually being there, and their caesar is no different. Topped with an oyster and bacon jam, betcha can’t drink just one!

Our Caesar comes with an oyster, topped with bacon jam. Because, duh?! #Caesar #bacononeverything

L’Gros Luxe

Montreal, Quebec

You don’t have to speak french to understand that this Montreal restaurant serves up some of the craziest, most delicious Caesars around! One drink provides everything you need (and your full calorie intake for the day).

Mulligans Golf Bar

Ottawa, Ontario

Recently the winner of Ottawa’s best Caesar, you can’t miss trying one of Mulligans’ Caesars on your next trip to Ottawa. With a burnt honey maple bacon rim, crispy prosciutto and Thai chilli basil vodka, it’s no wonder why they’re the best.

Broken City

Calgary, Alberta

One look at this Caesar and you’ll know why it made our list. Garnished with a spicy chicken wing and made with a splash of IPA, make sure you visit Broken City on your next trip to Calgary.

Local

Kitsilano, British Columbia

This west coast beach-side hang for young professionals seems less like a chain and more like a chill, laid-back watering hole. Come for the atmosphere and stay for their delicious Caesar served in a boot and garnished with a pepperoni stick.
