If you’re the type who is into roller coasters and thrills but think you’ve ridden every coaster there is to ride, we have a suggestion: A Zodiac ride down a shifting tidal bore near the Bay of Fundy. Nova Scotia’s tidal bore rafting tours are a completely unrivalled and unique experience you can’t get anywhere else on the planet.

Fuelled by the infamous Bay of Fundy tidal bore, a Zodiac begins on the calm Shubenacadie River where one is able to take in the surrounding landscape and scenic cliffs before charging rapids break through and your ride begins. Twice a day the tide changes creating a reverse flow of wild rolling rapids for about 15 minutes.

Experienced tour guides steer the Zodiacs upriver, explaining the geology and science behind the phenomenon before an extremely strong tidal bore wave comes crashing toward you. At this point, it’s all a matter of holding on and enjoying the ride.

Try not to go overboard.
